Iona Abbey
Iona, Western Isles
This tiny island by Mull has been a vibrant centre of Christian worship ever since St Columba arrived in AD 563.
Tiree, Strathclyde
Whilst the church is not listed by Historic Scotland, it has immense value to the whole of Tiree’s community and provides a central core to island life. The church is built in plain gothic style and is cruciform in plan with lancet openings.
This Cornerstone Grant will help towards the creation of a pod in the rear of the building to house accessible toilet facilities, a separate kitchen with proper facilities and a separate sound-proofed meeting room.
