St Mary Magdalene
Fleet, Lincolnshire
A beautiful sermon, expressed in stone.
Built in the mid 14th century, All Saints is a handsome building with a sturdy tower and tall spire.
Holbeach, Lincolnshire
The large windows and elegant clerestory add to the architectural harmony. The north porch has two circular flanking turrets, complete with battlements that make it look exactly like a castle gateway.
The large tomb of Sir Humphrey Littlebury is the most notable feature of the interior, he died in 1365. The table tomb on which his effigy lies has complex carved niches, while the effigy itself shows Sir Humphrey in full armour, with a lion at his feet, and his head resting on a macabre head wearing a netted headdress.
