Gedney's elegant and beautifully decorated tower is crowned by a spire that is little more than a stump.
Gedney, Lincolnshire
The body of the church has the hallmark of a great Perpendicular building: huge windows that fill it with light.
It has a two storey porch within which is one of the best medieval doors in England, its woodwork faded to a silvery brown. It is carved with shields, ballflower decoration and a Latin inscription.
Inside, the clerestory windows light the huge roof above, which has been over-restored but still retains its bosses.
