Find a church

A large 14th century church and is a key focus in a village said to be the highest inhabited point in Norfolk.

In the centre of the village with fabulous views of the Coniston Old Man which overlooks Coniston Water, the church hails two local heroes in John Ruskin and Dinald Campbell.

Where King Alfred prayed for victory against the Danes in 878.

The parish church of St Peter dates from the 14th century and is a Grade II* listed building open to all.

The village is small and modest; its church is large and sumptuous.

The churchyard has a distinct curve to it perhaps following the shape of an underlying moat and ancient meeting place. An ancient Yew tree reckoned to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old also stands in the churchyard.

A church of Norman origin in a beautiful location with a rich tapestry of archaeological interests, and with memorials to many famous people.

St Augustine's was built in 1975 and since then has served Grahame Park housing estate in the Catholic tradition.

The Grade I church is set back behind cottages in a little close of its own.
