A beautiful medieval parish church; a site of Christian worship for over 1000 years.

This handsome many windowed Norman and Early English church is entered through a splendidly pinnacle porch, which gives it a particularly theatrical effect.

The church was first dedicated to St Faith in 1108-14 and although it appears to be largely early 19th century Gothic Revival it is largely of medieval origin with possibly even earlier fabric incorporated.

During the 1950s and 1960s the Catholic population expanded, creating a need for new churches.

The exterior of St Mary's successfully blends elegant Perpendicular lines with rustic stone, partly fieldstone and partly a type of deep golden green sand known as carstone, which came from a nearby quarry known as The Butts.

There's no mistaking the importance of this great church, which dominates most views of Warwick from its hilltop site, with the best view from the castle.

The church has been built in four stages from the 13th century to 15th century and restored by Nicholas Joyce in 1881.
