St James’s dates from 1832 and, together with St John’s Tidbury Green and Christ the King in Widney Junior School, serves the Parish of Shirley.

An inspiring place of pilgrimage for centuries and visited by St Winifred en route from Holywell to Gwytherin, where she would become abbess and end her life.

The church was originally built in 1647 but virtually rebuilt in 1882 by the architect Edward Witts.

Whitewashed, and with a minute bellcote, this is another delightful and remote Radnorshire church dedicated to St David.

Built in 1867 the building is one of Frederick Preedy's more unusual and elaborately detailed designs and the plan and decoration of the chancel are particularly noteworthy.
