St Mary's church is the centrepiece of a substantial village green, unusual in the region and is home to two 5th to 6th century inscribed stones.

St Barnabas is a Grade 1 listed building dating from the 14th century with an impressive rood screen, font and pulpit.

A Saxon church minster was on or near where the church is today first in the 8th century giving 1,200 years of Christian church in this place.

St Mary's was built by the nearby abbey (of which the gatehouse remains at the top of the village street).

Built in 1865 of local sandstone with a Gothic style bell tower, excellent stained glass windows and a series of 25 frescoes decorating the interior.

The United Church was formed in 1978 as a partnership between the Methodist and United Reformed churches in the town.

The great golden Hamstone bulk of Sherborne Abbey presides benignly over its little medieval town.

In a high, coastal location and originally whitewashed, the church has been a beacon for pilgrims travelling from the east and west on the pilgrim way for at least 800 years and is still a sanctuary for visitors, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers enjoying the peace of the countryside.
