Adel church is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Britain. It has been in existence in its current form since 1150, making it the oldest church in Leeds.

St Matthew's is a prominent Gothic building in the centre of Northowram village, retaining its original external character and detail.

It is unusual enough to see a church with both a tower and a steeple (there are only three in England) but this church is unique in having them placed at the same end.

Built by John Oates opened in 1821 and funded by the Victorian industrialists for the increasing workforce in their factories.
