Great Torrington has a fascinating and colourful history.

Gazing across the River Dart from Kingswear, you can see the ancient church of St Saviour.

St Tysilio's is set in an idyllic position in meadows close to the River Wye with a backdrop of wooded hills and period cottages close by.

Lambourn's large and imposing church dates from about 1180, although there may well have been a church here since at least the time of King Alfred.

Christ Church is a 19th century building set above a road, in a peaceful rural location, built to replace the now ruined St John the Baptist church in the centre of the village.

Fairford's magnificent 'wool' church, rebuilt in the 1490s' and hardly altered since then, deserves a place in any roll call of fine Cotswold churches.
