Find a church

A wonderful example of a Commissioners' church or “Million Church” as it was built partly with money provided by the Church Building Act of 1824.

Opened in 1905, the church is famous for its 1966 carvings at the top of the pillars by the sculptor Witold Gracjan Kawalec, representing Work, Peace, Mercy, Hope, Life, Guidance, Humility, Justice, Grace and Music.

St Peter’s (in St Peter’s Square, next to M&S) is an ancient building with several contemporary features, where you will find a remarkable oasis of peace and tranquillity at the heart of Nottingham’s busy life.

A church is mentioned in Lydney in 852, the present church was founded in the 12th century.

Norton was once the first parish in Derbyshire encountered by Sheffielders on the road south, just imagine the London coach toiling up Derbyshire Lane! Seen from Graves Park it still appears in a rural setting.

The largest medieval building in the city known locally as St Mary in the Lace Market.

Built in 1975, St Philip’s is a small brick building with sloping roof bearing a single bell turret and a later extension.
