Gosforth, Tyne & Wear
Current building 200 years old, although a church has been on the site since about 1170 and there is evidence below the existing building of a Saxon church dating from 800. This later classical church was built by John Dodds and extended by John Dobson. The church has a fine selection of stained glass by Kempe, Wailes and Swaine Bourne and circular windows (Oeils de Boeuf) in the nave roof. A rounded apse includes a fine reredos with woodwork by Ralph Hedley. There is an extensive churchyard including the impressive Brandling.
