We are a friendly parish church in the beautiful small, north Hertfordshire village of Hinxworth.
Hinxworth, Hertfordshire
St Nicholas is a beautiful Grade II* listed building, set in idyllic countryside on the outskirts of Hinxworth.
In 2022, the church celebrated her 700th birthday, although we believe that it was built on the site of an older wooden church. Interestingly, the floor of the church is two feet below ground, so entering in symbolises descending in the waters of baptism. St Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, also echoes this connection to water. Various alterations have taken place of the 700 years, and displays to share this history are available.

The church was rebuilt in the early 13th century, giving the village its present name, and consisting of an aisled nave, a central tower, and a chancel.
