St Christopher
Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset
Standing proud on a prominent mound, Moreton's church is a neat and immaculate example of Georgian church architecture.
Moreton, Dorset
It was built in 1776 and is an unusual shape, almost square, with a large semi circular apse. The south side is particularly graceful, with an ogee headed doorway under the tower.
The inside is flooded with light from the large windows. Following bomb damage in 1940, all the replacement windows have outstanding engraved glass by the artist Sir Laurence Whistler which were installed over 40 years from 1955 onwards.
TE Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) is buried in the separate cemetery down the lane.

Bere Regis, Dorset
Tucked away in a quiet and modest part of the village, St John's church is handsome from the outside, being built of a mixture of stone and flint, but it is the inside that makes this church the gem of this part of Dorset.
