St John the Evangelist in Luton was designed by William Tozer of Teignmouth, an amateur architect in 1852. The church has simple pitched roofs with plain clay tiles. All walls are of grey limestone rubble with Bathstone dressings. It is simple in style with decorated and perpendicular details and a bellcote at the west end of the roof. Luton is a small rural community of around 50 inhabitants.
