This is a Grade I listed church building with a distinctive brick Tudor tower.
Rayne, Essex
The attractive red brick Tudor tower dominates the entrance to the church and was built by the Capel family. The Capels held the title of Earls of Essex and their striking coat of arms hangs in the church. Copies of the Capel helm, sword and candelabrum are also on display.
There are Flemish carvings showing scenes from the life of Christ, some lovely ceiling bosses and a very imposing font dated to the 14th century. We have a distinctive and unusual 'sacring bell'. The church has recently been refurbished and is in fine condition with planned new church guide books/app and a heritage trail connecting All Saints to other heritage points in the village of Rayne.
There is a book of Remembrance telling the stories of all the war dead whose names are recorded on the nearby War Memorial.
