The church, designed by Colin Shewring, was built and dedicated in 1965, it is one of the most distinctive buildings on the estate and in Oxford, with its curved walls and roof.

Blackburn Cathedral is one of England's newest Cathedrals, yet it is one of the country's oldest places of Christian worship; for many centuries, the parish church of Blackburn dedicated to St Mary the Virgin.

A 1900 building designed Paley & Austin of Lancaster and noted for its important heritage for its church fixtures.

The church traces its origins back to 1863 when eight residents of Blackheath asked Charles Haddon Spurgeon of the Metropolitan Tebernacle for permission to start a separate fellowship in this area.

The meeting house was designed by Trevor Dannatt, who was awarded an OBE in the 2016 New Year Honours.

Designed by Arthur Ashpital, work began in 1852 and the church was completed in 1853.

The tower of St Laurence is one of the best of its kind in the country, and is remarkable both inside and out.
