Eglwys Crist
Yr Orsedd, Clwyd
Adeiladwyd yr eglwys gyntaf ar y safle hwn yn 1841, ond fe’i difrodwyd yn ddifrifol gan dân. Yn ôl yr hanes, ym mis Mai 1891, cynhaliodd y Ficer ‘briodas yn yr adfeilion’.
The church overlooks the churchyard with a spectacular view of the Roman site of Letocetum which had grown around the Roman fort at the junction of Watling Street and Ryknild Street.
Wall, Staffordshire
It is a Victorian gem with beautiful stained glass windows, providing a sacred space of quiet and reflection for visitors.
The church is a Grade II listed building built in 1843 by Scott and Moffat and probably designed by Gilbert Scott, the famous Victorian architect. The clock on the spire originally came from Shenstone Court and was installed as a memorial to all those who had died in WWI.
The stained glass window on the south side of the building showing Christ with Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane was made by Charles Kempe and his signature of a small wheatsheaf can be seen in the window. There is also a splendid wrought iron lectern, the origins of which are sadly unknown.
