John Nethercott & Co
England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales
John Nethercott established the company in 1975. He and his wife Annie became partners in 1980. They head a small in-house team of skilled craftsmen making and restoring woodwork to the highest standard and, on larger architectural joinery projects, and for other disciplines such as wrought ironwork, have access to others equally skilled. In addition to the more traditional designs he is noted for, John has developed an interest in designing one-off pieces of contemporary furniture. The company has been based at historic Upper House since 1984.
The team’s long experience and sound understanding of traditional techniques has established it with an international reputation and involvement in many prestigious projects such as the reinstatement of the Royal Apartments at Edinburgh Castle and the Walraversijde Museum Project in West Flanders.
