Oxford's central United Reformed Church, dating to 1915.

There has been a church on this site for a thousand years, standing in the very centre of the ancient walled city of Oxford.

Both the nave and chancel of St Lawrence's are 12th century, and the north porch protects the original, beautifully carved, Norman north doorway.

In 1811 the newly erected church could somehow seat 256 people plus 94 other and had a capacity congregation each Sunday.

The ancient church was built nearly one thousand years ago and, together with its historic graveyards, provides a unique home for the key moments and memories of our town.

St James is a glorious Victorian parish church, rich in original stained glass, monuments and fittings, and home to a lively and active community.
